Obituary for Thelma Denio (Prescott)

BARRE – Thelma F (Prescott) Denio,96, passed away in her sleep Saturday morning in her home. She was born on March 31, 1920 in Worcester, daughter of the late Roland and Nellie (White) Prescott. Thelma grew up in Rutland, MA, lived there with her husband Leo Merchant and their two children. She worked for eighteen years at the Sprague Electric Company in Worcester, retiring in 1985. Thelma loved to do word puzzles, read, watch television and collect salt and pepper shakers.

Her son, Richard Merchant and his wife Florence, of Rutland passed away in September of 2009. Thelma is survived by their children Richard Merchant Jr, his wife Tabitha and their children Joshua, Jessica, and Joseph. She leaves Tammy Lloyd, her husband Brian of Rindge, N. H., their children Breana and Spencer along with Dean Merchant and his wife Shannon of Rindge, N. H.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Russell and her son-in-law Dr. Allan Russell with whom she resided for 43 years in Barre, MA. She leaves their children Bonnie (Russell) Peck, her husband Justin and his son Nathaniel of Spencer, MA along with Lora Russell and Allan Russell Jr both of Barre, MA. Thelma is also survived by her sister Olive Grenier of Rutland, MA, several nieces and nephews along with grand nieces and
nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 5-7PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 96 S.Barre Rd. Barre. The funeral for Thelma will be held on Friday with a Mass at 10:00AM in St.Patricks Church 258 Main St. Rutland. Please go direct to church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery in Rutland.
