Obituary for Joan P Sullivan (Fitzgerald)

NORTH BROOKFIELD- Joan P. (Fitzgerald) Sullivan, 85, passed away November 10,2016 at home after a brave battle with cancer.  Joan was born in Somerville the daughter of the late Cornelius J. and Nora I. (Hynes) Sullivan. She was a graduate of St. Clement's High School in Somerville.  Joan worked for many years as a telephone operator before marrying and raising her family in Northborough, MA.  She retired to North Brookfield, MA in 2000 with her family where she enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and making wonderful friends and memories at the North Brookfield Senior Center.  Joan was immensely proud of her Irish heritage and her family.

She leaves behind two loving daughters Lisa M. (Fitzgerald) Testa & her husband John L. and Laura A. Fitzgerald all of North Brookfield; her son Robert B. Fitzerald and son in law Dat X. Fitzgerald of Boston; her loving grandchildren Aran and Roan Testa and Fitzgerald Pucci of North Brookfield, all who were a great source of pride and joy in her life; a sister Mary Bowen of Walpole; two brothers Daniel Sullivan & his wife Pauline of Hudson and Thomas Sullivan of Newbury; a brother in law Michael Clooney of Hopkinton ; a sister in law Helen Sullivan of NY. and her closest friend Ginger Camarda of North Brookfield. Joan is predeceased by two brothers Cornelius Sullivan & his wife Cathy Sullivan formerly of Burlington & John Sullivan of NY., ; a sister Katherine Clooney of Hopkinton.

Joan was a long time member of the Friends of North Brookfield Senior Center.  Her grace and beauty both inside and out will be missed by all her senior friends. 

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, November 14,2016 from 5-7PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield. The funeral for Joan will be held on Tuesday with a Mass at 11AM in St.Josephs Church 296 N.Main St. North Brookfield. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joan’s name to The Friends of The North Brookfield Council on Aging 29 Forrest St, North Brookfield MA 01535.
